Hi, I’m Joanne,
but feel free to call me Jo.
I’m a UX designer with prior work experience within the mental health field. With a B.A. in Psychology, my life pursuit was headed towards becoming a mental health therapist. Then, Covid hit.
Along with many others, quarantining inside my house led to some deep reflection. Working behind-the-scenes at a mental health clinic challenged me to develop more efficient processes when I observed slow, outdated procedures in terms of their Electronic Health Records, onboarding new patients, scheduling, and billing. The current processes weren’t doing any favors to the clients or the business, but rather causing more frustration on both ends. I thought to myself, “there must be a better way.”
Enter, a whole new world… of UX design.
I was amazed at how UX design could solve the very problem I was facing. With my passion for mental health care, I couldn’t think of a better way to continue empathizing with people and meet their needs. As a UX designer, I advocate for the user by utilizing user research to create solutions that satisfy both the user and the client’s goals.
In my free time, you might find me sipping on boba, reigniting my love for reading, or taking the millionth sleeping picture of my two dogs (yeah, I’m that kind of dog mom).
